Our large, dedicated sales team performs extensive market research and continuously develops new outlets and uses for the slag products.
Briquetting converts individual by-products with high Fe content (slag, dust, slurries, and oxide scales) into a homogenized mix. The resultant mix is fed through a hydraulic roll press where the compaction creates a briquette that can be re-introduced to the iron and steel making facilities. We also use various by-products such as BOF sludge, BOF slag, ladle slag, mill scales, lime, and dusts to create a homogenous mix that can be added to the sinter plant process, improving productivity, creating less variability in the sintering process, improving sustainability, and reducing environmental impact.
Using our innovative equipment to combine iron ore fines without other materials creates a mixture easily used in sinter plants. The process allows for the use of steelmaking by-products and materials that are generally too fine for use in the blast furnace.
From loading/unloading, to transport, to general upkeep, we handle coal/coke for use in the blast furnace.
We handle iron ore to be used in a blast furnace or sinter plant. This ranges from loading/unloading, to transport, to general upkeep.
We process, granulate, and dewater blast furnace slag for use as a value-added aggregate. This is largely used in cement production.
We process granulated blast furnace slag for further value-added final product. This is also used in cement production.
We collect, transport, and process mill scale to create a sellable product on the outside market. We can then market the mill scale at our customer’s request.
Depending on the brick type, we provide and operate specialized equipment to crush spent refractory brick that can then be super sacked for reuse. This is a service that reduces the amount of materials sent to the landfill as well as the amount of additives purchased on the outside market, which both helps the environment and reduces customer costs.
We clean tundish dump areas, picking up and removing dumped tundish for further processing. We also utilize a proprietary tundish dumper to carry and dump liquid tundish, reducing metallic loss and the need for additional tear-outs.
We remove spent refractory materials from various melt shop vessels, clean tap holes, and more. Dedicated, on demand refractory tear-out services help reduce costly mobilization fees and other expenses associated with off-site services.
We clean all slag and scrap spills, breakouts, and splashed materials from the melt shop floor and haul away material for further processing.
We provide specialized loaders equipped with chains and fire suppression to dig slag pits and transport the slag for further processing. These services are offered for an EAF pit, BOF pit and/or LMF pit. We continually aim to optimize heat times and reduce yield losses over the course of a partnership.
We transport slag pots from the melt shop to slag dumping stations using slag pot carriers. We dump pots for quenching and further processing, then slag pots are returned empty to the melt shop for the next cycle. A slag “cushion” is often placed in the bottom of the pot before return and we spray pots with a releasing agent to increase the pot’s life span.
We transport scrap in the safest and most efficient way possible based on facility layout and requirements, including scrap that was just received, in addition to secondary transport of scrap between yards, bays, and in-ground charge boxes and buckets.
We receive, weigh, and direct incoming scrap trucks and railcars—as well as all outgoing trucks—to obtain tare and gross weights for accurate tracking of all products. Regular certification of truck and rail scales further guarantees accuracy and efficiency.
We specialize in receiving and unloading scrap from railcars and barges. Scrap can be unloaded directly into scrap piles or into trucks and other forms of transport for delivery to a secondary location. Railcars and barges are cleaned according to customer specifications.
